Game Changer: Switch Your Server to an Entirely Different Game

Interests change. Maybe your Minecraft community moved on to Rust, or your CS:GO server never took off and you want to try Garry's Mod instead. Normally that means cancelling one server and ordering a fresh one. On RepublicNodes it doesn't have to — that's what Game Changer is for.

What It Actually Does

Game Changer is a tab inside your server's management panel that lists every game type we support — every game across every category, not just the one your plan was originally sold for — and switches your server to run it. Under the hood it changes the server's game definition (what Pterodactyl calls a "nest and egg": the software image, startup command, and configuration variables for that specific game) directly on the panel. Voice servers and bot-hosting eggs are intentionally excluded from the switcher, since those aren't "games" in the sense this feature is built for.

What Carries Over and What Doesn't

• Your resources stay the same. RAM, CPU, disk and backup slots don't change — you're still on the same plan, just running different software on it.
• Your IP and port stay the same. No new server to point your DNS or Discord invite at.
• World/game data does not automatically convert. Switching from Minecraft to Rust doesn't magically turn your Minecraft world into a Rust map — the games are unrelated. If you want to keep your old files, download them from the file manager first, or make a backup before switching.

When to Use It vs. a Server Reinstall

• Switching games entirely (Minecraft → Rust, CS:GO → GMod) → Game Changer.
• Staying on Minecraft but changing server software (Paper → Purpur, Vanilla → Forge) → that's the Server Versions tab, a separate and more precise tool built specifically for Minecraft software — see our other post on that.

Where to Find It

Open Services → your server → Manage → Game Changer. Pick a game and confirm — the panel is updated immediately.
