Hytale Server Requirements: What You'll Need When It Launches
What we actually know about running a Hytale server today, and how to think about hardware requirements before the game has a stable public release.
Hytale Server Requirements: What You'll Need When It Launches
Hytale has generated a lot of interest as a potential successor to the Minecraft-style voxel sandbox genre, and RepublicNodes already lists Hytale as a supported egg in our panel for anyone who wants to be ready. But because the game hasn't had a stable, widely-available public release as of this writing, honest advice here means being upfront about what's actually known versus what's still guesswork.
What We Actually Know
Hytale is built on a custom engine (not Minecraft's), with its own take on voxel building, scripting, and combat. Server-side, that means:
- It will not run on a standard Minecraft/Java egg โ Hytale server software is its own binary, separate from anything Mojang-related
- Requirements will depend heavily on which build/version you're running โ pre-release server software tends to change its resource profile significantly between updates, sometimes release to release
How to Think About Sizing Before Launch
Until Hytale has a stable release with published official server requirements, the safest approach is:
- Start smaller than you think you need. It's far easier to upgrade a plan than to have paid for capacity you didn't use during an uncertain pre-release period.
- Watch official Hytale channels for real requirement announcements, not third-party speculation โ server requirements guessed before a real release are frequently wrong.
- Expect requirements to be closer to Minecraft's modern needs than to older, lighter game servers โ a custom engine with rich building/scripting tends to be more CPU and RAM hungry than simpler dedicated-server games.
What RepublicNodes Offers Today
Our panel already has a Hytale egg ready to go, and because our game hosting plans share the same underlying NVMe storage and DDoS-protected infrastructure as our Minecraft plans, switching between them (or trying Hytale alongside an existing Minecraft server) doesn't require starting from scratch with a new provider.
When Hytale's real, stable requirements are published, we'll update our own documentation accordingly rather than leaving speculative numbers up that could mislead early adopters.
