How to Configure Your PalWorld Server Settings

PalWorld's dedicated server is configured through a settings file, not an in-game admin menu — here's where to find it and what's worth adjusting first.

Where the Settings Live

Your server's configuration is in Pal/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/PalWorldSettings.ini, accessible from the File Manager tab. If the file doesn't exist yet, most panel setups generate a default one on first boot — start the server once, then check.

Settings Worth Changing First

• ServerName and ServerDescription — how your server appears in the in-game server browser.
• AdminPassword — set this to something real immediately; it's what lets you use in-game admin commands.
• ServerPassword — leave blank for a public server, or set one for a private/whitelisted-only server.
• PlayerCount= (default max players) — match this to what your plan's RAM/CPU can actually handle comfortably, not just the maximum PalWorld allows.
• DayTimeSpeedRate / NightTimeSpeedRate — adjust the day/night cycle length to taste.
• ExpRate, PalCaptureRate, PalSpawnNumRate — the core difficulty/progression multipliers most communities tune first; raise them for a more casual server, lower for a harder survival experience.
• bIsMultiplay — must be true for a real multiplayer dedicated server (should already be set correctly by the egg, but worth confirming).

Applying Changes

1. Edit the file directly in the File Manager's built-in editor, or download, edit locally, and re-upload.
2. Save.
3. Restart the server — PalWorld reads this config at startup, so changes don't apply live.

Using Admin Commands In-Game

Once you've set AdminPassword, use the in-game command console (~ or the designated key) with:

/AdminPassword yourpassword

followed by admin commands like /kick, /ban, /broadcast, or teleport/spawn commands, once authenticated.

A Sizing Note

If you're regularly adjusting rates upward to support more simultaneous building and a bigger population, keep an eye on your RAM usage — PalWorld's memory footprint grows with world save size and active structures over time, not just player count. Backing Up Before Big Changes

Config mistakes in this file can prevent the server from starting at all — take a backup before a big batch of changes, so a bad edit is a quick revert instead of a from-scratch redo.
