Create, download and delete backups

Create a backup

1. Open Backups.
2. Optionally type a name (for example before-1.21-upgrade) and press Create.
3. The backup starts in the background and appears in the list when finished.

Download

Use the download action to get a signed link and save the archive to your computer. Keep an off-site copy of anything important.

Delete

Remove old backups you no longer need to free up your backup allowance.

When to back up

• Before changing server version or software
• Before installing a big plugin or modpack
• Before editing configs you don't fully understand
• On a schedule — see Schedule restarts and backups

Permissions

Subusers need backup.create, backup.read, backup.delete and backup.download. Downloading a backup exposes every file on the server, so grant backup.download sparingly.
