Install plugins and mods from Modrinth

The Plugins and Mods tabs search Modrinth and install straight onto your server.

Install a plugin

1. Open Plugins under More on your Minecraft server.
2. Type a name (for example EssentialsX) and press Search.
3. Click View Versions on the result, choose the version that matches your server, and click Install.
4. The file downloads to /plugins in the background — large files are fine because the download happens on the node, not through your browser.
5. Restart the server to load it.

Mods work the same way from the Mods tab and install to /mods.

Matching versions

Pick a plugin version that lists your Minecraft version and your software (Paper, Spigot, Fabric…). A build for the wrong version is the most common cause of a plugin failing to load.

Removing a plugin

The Installed list at the top shows every .jar in the folder. Use Remove to delete one, then restart.

If the tab says the installer isn't enabled

You can still install manually: download the .jar yourself and upload it in the Files tab to /plugins (or /mods). See Upload files to your server.

Shared servers

Subusers need the plugin.manage or mod.manage permission to use these tabs. See Giving friends access with subusers.
